Projects I'm building

Products and experiments I build on my own. No clients or numbers to show yet, just real projects at different stages.

01Rebuild in progressProduct

Nihon

A local Japanese-learning app for Windows, Linux and macOS.

I'm doing a major rebuild of Nihon and running it like a real product: planned, documented and shipped in small steps. I write most of the code myself, and I want to own the backend in particular.

  • One Express.js/TypeScript REST API shared by a React web client and a native Swift/SwiftUI macOS app
  • Close to 200 issues, organised with labels, an index, epics and sub-issues
  • Git rules, an AGENTS.md and written technical decision records
  • Visual references for every page before implementation
  • Coding agents help on well-scoped tasks, and I review every change
  • TypeScript
  • Express.js
  • Node.js
  • React
  • Prisma
  • SQLite
  • Bun
  • Docker
  • Swift / SwiftUI
Illustration of the workflow. Screenshots will come with the rebuild.

02Full-stack appAuth · Realtime · Infra

Bombscendance

A complete web application, from authentication to realtime.

A full-stack project where I built every layer: the Next.js front end, the Node.js backend, the database, realtime communication and the Docker infrastructure that runs it all.

  • Authentication: Google & GitHub OAuth, email verification, TOTP two-factor auth, backup codes, session management
  • Profiles, avatar upload, notifications and statistics
  • Realtime features over Socket.IO
  • Containerised infrastructure with Docker, tested with Vitest
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Node.js
  • Prisma
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • Docker
  • Better Auth
  • Socket.IO
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Vitest

03ExperimentNot a game

Procedural Dungeon Generator

C++ · Procedural generation · Algorithms · Visualization

A C++ generator for dungeon layouts and maps. It's a playground for comparing generation algorithms, working on performance and looking at the results through a web interface.

  • Several generation algorithms, implemented and compared
  • Algorithmic and performance work in C++
  • Web-based visualization of the generated structures
  • C++
  • Algorithms
  • Procedural generation
  • Web visualization
A tiny JS sketch made for this page. The real generator is written in C++.

More projects will show up here as they ship.

Tools I work with

What I use, and where it shows up in my projects.

Frontend

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Next.js

Used in Nihon (React), Bombscendance (Next.js) and this website (plain HTML, CSS & JS).

Backend

  • Node.js
  • Express.js
  • Prisma
  • PostgreSQL
  • SQLite
  • SQL
  • Redis
  • APIs

Used in Nihon (Express REST API, Prisma, SQLite) and Bombscendance (auth, sessions, realtime, PostgreSQL).

Systems

  • C++
  • Rust

C++ in the Dungeon Generator. Rust: currently learning and going deeper.

Infra & tools

  • Docker
  • Nginx
  • Git
  • GitHub
  • Linux
  • CI/CD

Used in Nihon and Bombscendance (Docker), and Git/GitHub workflows across every project.

AI-assisted development

  • Coding agents
  • Agentic workflows
  • Project context
  • Code review
  • Automation

Used in Nihon: issues, AGENTS.md and decision records that keep agents on track. How I use it →

Method

How I work with AI

I write my own code. AI assists me, and sometimes handles well-defined parts of a project.

What I do

  • 01Write most of the code, especially the core logic, the backend and anything I want to master
  • 02Structure projects: issues, epics, Git rules, decision records
  • 03Prepare the context and set the constraints before any agent touches the code
  • 04Make the technical decisions and check the architecture
  • 05Review and understand every change before it gets merged

Where AI helps

  • 01Exploring ideas and getting unstuck faster
  • 02Well-scoped tasks: boilerplate, tests, scaffolding
  • 03Automating repetitive development work

About

A bit about me

I'm Bryan, a developer who likes building complete software, from the interface down to the systems underneath.

I'm a student at 42 and I'm finishing the common core. I'm interested in frontend, backend, systems programming, algorithms and AI tooling, and I'm building several personal projects at the same time.

YumeDev is the name I use for all of it: my projects, my experiments, my freelance work and the products I want to build next.

Freelance

Let's build something together

I'm available for freelance missions. I'm not a senior expert, but I'm a developer who ships, communicates clearly and takes the time to understand your codebase before changing it.

Small to medium missions are a good fit: a feature to add, an existing app to evolve, an internal tool to build.

Taking new missions
  • React / Next.jsInterfaces, pages, components
  • Frontend integrationFrom mockup to responsive, accessible UI
  • Full-stack developmentFeatures end to end
  • Node.js / ExpressBackends and services
  • APIsDesign, integration, third-party services
  • PostgreSQL / SQLSchemas, queries, migrations
  • Existing applicationsIntegration, fixes and new features
  • Internal tools & automationSave your team repetitive work
  • C++ or RustSmall projects, depending on context
